MB, I went through some of American's stats online.Their funds with MU or AOL in their top holdings are New Perspectives, New Economy, and Growth Fund of America. NP has MU at 1.5% (of 17B) for about 250M; NE has AOL at 1.6% (of 4.8B) for about 75M bucks, and Growth Fund of America has AOL for about 2.9% (of 11.6B) for about $300M. Anyways, Capital has 35 M shares of MU as of January, according to Mike Iles; up from about 23M in August. The listings in their top holdings for these funds would only total 8M, and there didn't seem to be too many of their funds that would have a prospectus that would justify the purchase of MU. I'm going to look for some stats, but they have to have c. 100B in their funds at least, and they've definitely been growing fast as hell. NP's been doubling every year for a while.
For their teams, it seems like William Grimsley and William Newton had the most reach in terms of the number of funds in which they participate. Know anything about them?
Also, do you think they have pension assets that are also included in their 14A's, or assets managed by financial advisors affiliated to their company? TIA. |
