As a very strong general rule, I am in favor of adopting dogs from rescue centers. So this is not about complexity. For a number of reasons, I am partial to European dobermans and german shepherds. And I suspect that I will have a much easier time finding my little Italian friend in Italy than in Canada - possibly from a rescue/shelter center. A dog rescued from there is no different than one from here. In fact, I don't think you could find a rescue lagotto romagnolo from any shelter here.
