Wharfie,
Fort Lee, a U.S. Army post named after the leader of the Confederate army during the Civil War, was renamed Fort Gregg-Adams
I grew up in Maryland and visited Northern Virginia a lot. There were plenty of references to the Confederacy everywhere I went, and I didn't give it a second thought.

Lee Highway in particular became the location for a prominent Koreatown in Fairfax County. For all I cared, the name "Lee" stood for a common Asian last name, not the Confederate general himself.

Indeed, I still remember a Korean-American ESPN commentator getting "cancelled" because his name was Robert Lee. I kid you not:

P.S. - It seems recently Lee Highway has been renamed. Now it's just Highway 29.
