Pocotrader,
he would have liked a trump type POTUS in ww2. if that were the case, we would all be speaking German and Japanese today.
Perhaps, but in the case of "bomb vs. invade," it was clear to most people that a full-scale invasion of Japan would have cost MANY more lives than the two atomic bombs.

Broken Cuck, however, pretends that Japan was *this* close to surrendering, and that the nukes were completely unnecessary. And to prove it, he and his fellow historical revisionists point to a few officials back then who opposed the use of the bomb, then pretend that they represented the "majority" opinion.

All of that flies in the face of every observation made about Japanese soldiers, who were fiercely devoted to their cause. It was reasonable to assume that they would do everything they could to defend their own homeland from foreign invaders.

Today, Japan is pacifistic, but their culture still reflects a strong devotion toward shared values that are unique to the Japanese people. Even today, they are hesitant to acknowledge how evil and brutal their brief flirtation with imperialism turned out to be, because shame is still a thing in their society.

P.S. - Said a Japanese citizen today, "What do you think we would have done had we got the bomb first?"
