More stuff: My daughters 23 year old Au pare from Colombia, is the best thing that could have happened for
my granddaughter. She graduated university in Colombia, majoring in English and hopes to be an English
teacher when she goes back home. We have talked a little about money and she read the copy of The
Richest Man in Babylon I gave her. She gets room and board ( whole 1400 sq. ft. bottom level of their house,
and they always eat together ) and $200 a week. I knew she was listening about money when my daughter
and her husband wanted her to stay a second year. She negotiated three weeks to go back to Colombia in
July, and $250 a week after she comes back. From my daughters point of view, $2600 a year more, when you
know what you are getting, was a no brainer.

Carolina told me she did it because it was more than she would make back in Colombia. Made me think of
what I could do to help her down the line. Decided to open her a $3000 account, invested in SCHD.
We have talked that it would be a nice sum to help in retirement. Also gives her the option to take the
dividends and let the rest ride.

So, we did not have her documents when we opened her account. Email chain:

"hello! When my account was opened, I did not have a W8BEN filled out, or my bank statement that I could
photo and upload. I now have those, and copies of my Visa and passport that I can upload. Is there a way to
go back and do that, or do I need to mail them now?"

"Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us and I hope you are having a wonderful day so far! My
name is Matt, and I am most happy to help with your inquiry today! You can actually respond to this
message and simply attach those files and we will get them applied to your account."-
We responded by uploading photos of her bank statement, visa, passport, and SS card. We got this back:-
"There is conflicting information on file for your account regarding your tax status. Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) regulations require you to clarify your current United States tax status. If your current United States
tax status is that of a Non-Resident Alien (NRA), please submit to the address below: - The Letter of
Explanation regarding the U.S. phone number (https://www.tdameritrade.com/retail-en_us/resources/pdf/AMTD835.pdf). -
A brief letter signed and dated by you that explains your current tax status. If your current tax status is that
of a United States taxpayer, please submit to the address below: - A completed IRS Form W-9
(http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf) - A brief letter signed and dated by you that explains your current tax
status and when your tax status became applicable to your TD Ameritrade account, including month and
year of becoming a US taxpayer. You may also submit a copy of your current Resident Alien Visa.
To access forms online, log onto your account and select "Forms & Agreements" under
"Client Services". Once you've printed and completed all necessary forms, please fax to 866-468-6268 or
scan and send through the Secure Message Center."-

She is a nonresident alien U.S. taxpayer. Printed and filled out the forms, and wrote a letter. Took photos and
uploaded to reply email again.

Besides nothing going good for me in a month, no good deed goes unpunished.
