Your point is well taken. That's why I listen to BB. I like his conservative, long-term philosophy. When I came to the university where I would spend the next 31 years, I was offered a public pension plan or a private one (TIAA-CREF). I knew nothing about investments; I was 33 years old. A good friend told me to stay away from the public plan ("You want bureaucrats playing with your money?") and told me to put 100% into stocks and forget about diversification at my age. Thirty-one years later, I am just now diversifying to protect some of the monies. With that simple philosophy, I have well over a million dollars. I know I'm fortunate that I don't have to worry about money when I retire. But investing is easy if you follow the rules of patience. I've listened to BB over the past few years and resisted the temptation of getting out of the market too soon. What a fortunate decision that was. I've done it now because I will be 64 soon. No sense in being greedy.
