The debt limit doesn't invalidate public debt. It just limits the amount of federal spending.

Who said anything about invalidating the public debt? The 14th amendment simply states the country shall pay the bills it has accrued to date.

By the way, no one has challenged the constitutionality of that debt ceiling law for decades.
Yes, but that's no reason not to remove the debt ceiling "law". The illegal law hasn't been challenged because none of the legislators wanted to be singled out as an "uncontrolled spender". Poor excuse, we don't need such a conflict to the stated constitution.

We've got enough problems with the interpretation of the 2nd amendment's guns and militias mucking up the constitution.

As an interesting aside, the debt is shrinking due to inflation.
