Larry, to use a relevant figure of speech, "the government regulating the software industry" is a red herring. The government is considering enforcing an area of the law that it hasn't paid much attention to of late. Besides, if it's like the Chrysler car radio, the favored metaphor du jour, the government does plenty of regulation on that front, so it's Just Not Fair that Microsoft doesn't get some scrutiny too.
Besides, did you catch the news of a few days ago, when Bill was off hobnobbing with the EU guys and catching that pie? He was all in favor of an "internet code" or some such, er, regulation. I imagine that was more to do with something else, though, like Bill's China problem. It'll be interesting to see Bill get together with the Chinese on that, I imagine their idea of what's important in an "internet code" will be much different than Bill's.
