Friday February 13, 5:04 pm Eastern Time AFTER THE BELL - Ascend jumps on takeover NEW YORK, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Shares of Ascend Communications jumped 10 1/8 in early after-hours trading Friday after Nortel (nt-nyse) agreed to buy out the networking company for $45 per share. Other stocks remained near to their closing values, dealers said. Trading remained light over an hour after the market close, dealers said. The New York Stock Exchange said session one trading volume was 696,600 shares compared with volume of 3.07 million during the prior session. Session two trading volume was 2.38 million compared with 2.37 million the prior session.
