I have watched Inspector Lynley twice, but not for some time. For me, what really nade it work was the contrast between the hoity-toity snobbish, fussy, sometimes brilliant Lynley with working class, hard working, A=>B style of Havers. I certainly would not have enjoyed it as much without Lynley being such a jerk.

For me, Havers is definitely at the heart of the show. I like the actress so much I have actually tracked down quite a few other shows and movies she was in.

Hmm, it will be time to watch Lynley again in about five years, I think. Right now I am alternating seasons of Call My Agent and the Polish series The Disappearance, with occasional forays into the Australian comedy Upper Middle Bogan.
