Northern Flickers who carved out a nesting cavity in a sycamore tree. Sycamore trees grow fast and hollow out quickly making them excellent trees for woodpecking birds to create cavities which will go on to be used by other wildlife for years after the Flickers have vacated the nest. Sometimes Northern Flickers have to fight off invasive starlings in their attempts in stealing their nesting cavity as starlings can't make these cavities by themselves and relying on taking them by force in some instances, if they can't find an empty one.
