I have been in the midst of the debate over SiGe for most of the last year and I have to say that the Gas folk have been singularly ineffective in responding to the arguments from IBM and SiGe Microsystems. Silicon Germanium will use less power than Gas and already has been tested at frequencies near 50GHz. I am afraid that as they were saying 20 years ago gallium arsenide is the substrate of the future, and always will be. This does not mean that the sige people will be able to seize all the high frequency territory over night; there are lots of designs already in the pipeline that will go to Gas. But the high speed circuitry of the future will likely be SiGe.

Best, gg
