1) I am not an enthusiast for technologies that fail to equal what is already available to customers--WebTV is a dancing dog; you are impressed that it can dance at all, but it is inferior to PCs and will be inferior to the NCs that will emerge over the next four years. 2) I like LSI Logic and retain it on my recommended list, despite the departure of Brian Halla to National. But neither are strong in DSP. Analog Devices and IBM are TI's most potent rivals in the field. 3) Seems an intriguing question--routers/switches vs. cache servers--but I really cannot choose. Both will be vital to the success of the net. As for the larger theoretical question, I address it at length in chapters in my new book that I had better return to writing right now. Best, gg
