We’re back! Tanned, rested, and ready. Thank you for your patience with the abbreviated reports, but the numbers always tell the tale.
Another pretty good week for the NASDAQ composite (up +2.5%), building on a similar gain the previous week, and a total return for the year of +24%. For the biotech industry, the broad indices were down (-2.6%, and -1.6%).
None of the portfolio choices showed a really good bump up this week, the best being KRYS, up a still healthy +31% of their original price, on news of FDA approval for a drug to treat a fairly rare skin condition. The first, second, and fourth largest losers of the week, CRVS, INZY, and JSPR, (-59%, -41%, and -37%), might have been a case of profit taking, as they occupy the top three places in the YTD performance table.
It should be no surprise that every portfolio was in the red for the week, and that the really big losing portfolios were our best performers over the year. BLADERUNNER dropped -$7.5k, but ALONER dropped more, -$12k, with the result that BLADERUNNER returns to the top YTD spot again. It remains close, with only two thousand dollar separating the only portfolios that currently outperform the NASDAQ Composite for the year.
With only four trading days next week, it should be a quiet one, right?
