Thanks for checking on me, wharfie.
As abuelita wrote, i'm in a different area of Nova Scotia than the worst of the fires.
There have been several fires burning around the province. Two very big ones.

Halifax area is super scary as the forest is burning adjacent to houses in a suburban area.
Some houses have been completely burnt up - no idea how many so far. I just heard that 200 are damaged at least to some extent - or destroyed.
People had to make a quick evacuation as there was almost no warning.
The winds were really strong out of the southwest and the fire just exploded from nothing to an inferno
in just a few hours.
People didn't have time to move livestock. One person turned their horses loose as no trailer could get through.
I saw photos this morning that the horses made it out of the fire area and were grazing on the lawn of a school.
The wildest footage I've seen was this dashcam footage of someone driving out of their subdivision.

Anyhow, yeah, it's scary how dry things are here. Almost no snow all winter and now almost no rain all spring. Everything is as dry as tinder.
