I think all of the reasons are valid and it bears out in sales numbers and market share. There are good reasons the iPhone outsells all other Android phones combined in the U.S. at about 53% to 46%. Check out the graph at that link.

Of all my local friends and family, only three of them use an Android phone.

If you don't pay premium dollar for an Android phone you get low quality junk that quickly becomes outdated and won't receive OS or security updates. It's a race to the bottom, but it's all many can afford.

By contrast, my mother's old iPhone 6s Plus (she now has an iPhone 11 Pro Max) received iOS updates until iOS 16 came out last year, and it was last produced in September of 2016. That's six years of updates. How many Android brands produce updates for their phones that long?

Features like camera quality leapfrog each other between iPhone and Android and would seldom be a differentiator to most people.

As for being "walled in," I've never felt like I was with my iPhone. I worry about security if Apple is forced to allow 3rd party app stores access to iOS. The vast majority of smartphone malware is still focused on Android. On Android, you can get it directly from their Google Play Store. Android has up to 47 times more malware than iOS.
