What is so rare as a day in June? Well this June is starting off pretty well. And the US government didn’t go into default. The NASDAQ composite and their biotech index both went up about +2%, with the S&P Biotech exceeding that, +2.6%.

Three individual stocks posted big wins: OMER, up +72% of its initial price for the week, vaulting it to fourth place in the YTD standings, apparently because they announced that they will present interim phase I results at a conference next week.

finance.yahoo.com
“ Omeros Corporation (Nasdaq: OMER) today announced that data from a pre-specified interim analysis of its ongoing Phase 1b clinical trial of OMS906, the company’s lead MASP-3 inhibitor, in complement-inhibitor-naïve adults with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare and life-threatening hemolytic blood disorder, will be shared at the 2023 European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress in Frankfurt, Germany. Identified as one of the top five late-breaking submissions by the Scientific Program Committee, the abstract was selected for oral presentation.”

Jeffries Healthcare Conference, NY, June 7-9, 2023. Being there seems to matter this year.

CRVS also up +71% (moving past JSPR to take second place YTD) by announcing that they will host a meeting with investors (!!!) along with presenting a paper at the same conference; and INZY, up only +49% for the week (first place YTD) by simply presenting at the conference. Each of the top five stocks for the week were selected in single (different) portfolios.

The big loser for the week was BLCM (-66%, breaking into the overall big losers at fourth place YTD), where during a very thinly traded week its price caught up with the bad news announced three months ago that they were “rethinking their priorities”.

This week was a very good week for the contest portfolios, all but one in the black and adding $4.9k$ on average to their value. This was enough to significantly improve the YTD performance of the median portfolio (to +$15.4k).

The best performing portfolios correlated with holding one of the best performing stocks for the week: ALONER (+12k, CRVS); BULBAMAN (+$11.3k, OMER); and ERIKOTTO (+$9.4k, INZY, but also another holding CABA had a great week). CRVS’s strong performance compared to JSPR (essentially flat for the week) explains how ALONER has again moved into first place ahead of BLADERUNNER, but still only $5.2k separating the pair.

Meanwhile, my portfolio is sliding into oblivion. C’est la vie. ;-)
Stay tuned...
