The Vision Pro is damned interesting and bitchen. My thoughts:

I was first struck by Tim calling it a AR device not a VR device. It really has little relationship to Mata's vision of VR. (Although its just as good at VR.).

IMO its really revolutionary conceptual thinking.

I don't think the market understands how conceptually different this is. I think these things will sell WAY better than people expected.

Unlike Meta's device its not aimed so much at VR as it is replacing traditional screens. Its better than Apple's Pro Display XDR for LESS MONEY. Its way better than any flat screen too. Watching old movies made for widescreen like Lawrence of Arabia is now BETTER than watching in a movie theater made for Cinemascope. I loved that part. Apple just started the process of obsoleting traditional TV and even 3D movie theaters. Serious movie buffs like me hate talkers in theaters and now one can watch a 3D movie or old Cinemascope movie at home without being disturbed. I have no doubt smart people with money will splurge.

Its also about Apple selling entertainment content big time. Apple and Disney will create movies and other content with it NO ONE can match. Content makers are going to jump on making stuff for it big time. No doubt Apple will also be selling software and licenses to content providers. Netflix should be down big time today not Apple.

I'm not surprised people here want one. My guess is they'll sell very well to people who own high end cars and have money. I can easily see people in La Jolla buying them without flinching about the price, maybe more than one so they can watch together. People who own giant homes with Theater rooms now have something far better they can use. They'll buy them by the dozen to impress people after dinner parties... people will want to get their dinners OVER to test out these things.

The only drawback is that that you can't watch a movie together with one. I'm thinking though families will watch together on their traditional TVs at the same time as on their Vision Pro and the kids will be fighting over who gets to use it. Probably families will trade off.

The eyes thing the front screen is a pretty good attempt to avoid google's glasshole effect... doesn't do it, but a good try. These aren't for wearing around at bars in public though unlike googleglass. One other thing I liked is you don't have to take them off to go get a snack during a movie.

I'm totally impressed... the technology is impressive but the concept behind it changes everything.

One thing I thought was amusing... it seems to have a power pac cable that goes behind it... Apple's show showed it, reluctantly, but didn't show the power pack. I wonder if that'll be extra for extended use? Or if one will be able to plug it into a computer for extended use as an office device.
