Zeuspaul, One of my concerns was that a group of individuals would ignore a poster.
My feeling about this is, "Too BAD!!" If I choose to ignore an obnoxious, trouble-making, time-wasting jerk, why should I be denied the ability to do so? In truth, if I see an interesting response to a skipped post and that response peaks my curiosity, I can always click on the referenced post to read the original comments.
Just as you don't want the group to ignore the individual (which, by the way is their right to do), I don't want the group to force the individual's comments down my throat!
My internet connection has been so bad lately that I have to skip whole blocks of posts, sometimes a whole day's worth, because the "Next" button just causes Netscape to hang for a minute until it times out. Are you going to volunteer to summarize the whole day's input into a single message so I don't miss the "integrity of the thread"? Obviously not. If I miss it, it won't be the end of the world. Likewise, if I skip posts from people I choose to ignore, it won't kill me.
Why do you persist in objecting to automating what I can do manually?
