Tenchu's Thoughts: A Football (Soccer) Analogy
Let's say you're the star player in a football (soccer) match. You're the visiting team, so your opponents are the hometown favorites.
One of your opponents just performed a very hard tackle on you.
You reason that such a tackle would normally result in a yellow card, but since your opponent didn't get one, the refs MUST be biased, or worse, corrupt.
In other words, you believe the game is RIGGED.
So what do you do? You whine and moan to the refs. You throw a temper tantrum. You shout and argue that your opponent should have been carded.
All to deaf ears. In fact, the refs give YOU a yellow card for complaining too much about their calls (or lack thereof).
Later in the game, your team is down 0-1. The game is close, but you figured your opponents are in the lead because of the biased officials.
Complaining about bias didn't work, of course. You're getting desperate, so you decide you need to do anything and everything to win.
And because your opponent went in for a hard tackle, you decide that you should be allowed to do likewise.
So now you see your opponent with the ball.
You run forward as hard as you can and try to tackle your opponent.
Only in your case, you don't just perform a tackle. Instead, you throw what could objectively be called a flying side kick to the opponent's abdomen.
Your opponent doubles over in pain. Your flying side kick injured him, and he is now out of the game.
The officials blow the whistle and immediately hold up the red card.
You get thrown out of the game. Later you get sanctioned by FIFA for committing such a flagrant foul.
"But but it's not fair!!!" you say. "The other guy committed a foul on me and didn't even get a yellow card! I demand equal treatment under the rules!!!"
The only problem is that what you did was worse than what your opponent did. Much worse.
Yet you demand "equal treatment"?
There really is no comparison here. Your opponent merely hard-tackled you. You went all Chuck Norris on him.
Yes, the officials might have been biased when he didn't blow the whistle on your opponent.
But that doesn't give you an excuse to do something worse.
And that, ladies and gentlemen (and non-binaries), is what Trump and his supporters are arguing for. "Equal treatment."
Because Hillary got away with mishandling classified info, Trump should be allowed to get away with likewise.
Except that, if what Hillary did was the equivalent of a hard tackle, Trump did the equivalent of a flying side kick.
And he doesn't give a shit. Never did, never will.
My message to all you Trump supporters out there: Dump the Trump. The "whataboutism" isn't going to work. Trump believes he should be above the law because Hillary supposedly was as well.
The buck needs to stop here.
