Germany right now is dealing with an unusually large number of major policy issues which until resolved (and resolved they will be), provides the AfD with fertile ground amongst the “we are against” group. A group which traditionally in the end (when it comes to votes) will ask the AfD what it stands for and how it intends to get there. That’s an answer the AfD cannot provide as it only has questions but no answers.

AfD’s current popularity is actually a good thing as it forces the current coalition government to come up with workable solutions.

It’s really a pretty good example of a working democracy.
