Judging by the many new posters who have arrived and quickly complimented Henry for his hard work, it appears that his fans here don't actually qualify for "cult" status, as has been occasionally suggested on the thread. While I bought Ligand before I ever heard of Henry, I own a lot more of it because he keeps us more up-to-date than I could possibly have time to do on my own. The web site was a masterstroke for getting people's attention about Ligand's story and progress.
As for negative posters, they are present on every thread I follow, and I assume they are on all the others. The 2 most prolific ones I know of are one in particular here (who has a personal axe to grind with Henry), and a guy on the Topro thread (who appears to be just a pure nutbag).
I follow all of those negative posts, specifically to ensure that the poster has little or no knowledge of the company. If any of those guys ever started making sense, I'd definitely consider it a red flag. As it is, I'm thoroughly convinced that the main downsider here has never so much as picked up the annual report and read the chairman's letter (which would hardly be research, anyway).
Only thing I really find lacking on the threads I follow are people who legitimately are disappointed in a company after thorough research. Those types don't post much, and that's a shame, because they could increase the quality of the discussion so much!
OTOH: Maybe these's no one around today who thinks Ligand is overvalued. (:->) |
