Randy, Concerning brand names, it's curious to see the "grass is greener" phenomena in both consumer electronics and autos, within the US market. For example, identical cars produced off the same assembly line sell at a higher price if Japanese branded versus US branded.
Conversely, US brands have a lot of cachet in many foreign markets. For example, the youth in Korea prefer US backpacks, shoes, music, films, etc. to the local brands.
As previously recommended on here, I'd like to see LGE and Zenith work together to offer three distinct brands on a worldwide basis. The Inteq brand would be geared to the early adopters/high-end market offering premium quality, innovation, highest service for premium pricing. The Zenith brand would be globally geared to the high-end/mass market of consumer electronics and the LGE brand would be geared to the mass-market discounters.
Within this scenario, LGE could be the primary OEM for all three brands leaving Zenith free to concentrate on R&D, marketing and distribution. |
