I just finished rewatching the HBO "Rome" series for the first time since it came out. I realized at the end that it dovetails perfectly with "I, Claudius" since the former ends with Augustus consolidating power and the latter is the story of all the emperors from the Julio-Claudian line.

Together they paint a vivid picture of more than 100 key years in Roman history.

Naturally, "I, Claudius" omitted all the sex and gore that the HBO showrunners were dutiful about including. Oh well.
