NEEDHAM, Mass., Feb 11- UroMed Corp Wednesday said it will restructure operations in the first quarter of 1998 to focus more on hospital-based sales and cut costs that is expected to save $11 million annually.

The company said it will cut 40 jobs and take a $1 million one-time charge in the first quarter.

The company said it will reduce its investment in the consumer-oriented continence care business, which will better be approached through marketing partners.

These cuts are designed to "create a business model with a significantly lower break-even level," a release said.

UroMed develops healthcare products related to prostate cancer, urinary incontinence, and breast cancer.
