I'm looking, like most investors, for ROI. Even down 20% comparatively over that long a time period, you are still going to be up substantially more ROI wise than buying QQQ. Yes, there are the third party risk due to the option strategies used by the fund. But that's what you expect stretching for higher yield.
That said, I'm not advocating anyone buying the 2x and 3x, but in a bull market, it makes more sense, if you like the SOX or QQQ anyway. Its not for everyone. You have to watch the market very close to be in these.
