TDS Telecommunications, a unit of Telephone and Data Systems (NYSE: TDS), said on Monday that it had located about 10 miles of lead covered cables in its network across the United States.
The unit of the U.S. regional phone company said that it was identifying steps to address the lead cabling in its network.
If it can be replaced at 4,000 per mile, it is a a $40,000 problem to fix.
WSJ kicking on telcos when they are down on their knees.
Sounds like the shorts were covering on a trumped up story.
One thing for sure, Telcos were a bargain yesterday.
