The coming wheat shortage caused by Russia’s embargo of Ukraine’s grain shipments has caused worldwide consternation.

Europeans were heard to challah when they saw empty shelves.

I asked a woman if chibatta loaf, and she answered by lifting up her last bagel, in an attempt to indicate “zero.”

One woman in Rome threw a panettone when it looked like husband Tony hadn’t brought home any bread. He ducked, took out a dotted yeast bread from a bag and said, “Here! I didn’t focaccia!"

In India, a baker sold a customer the last bread he had and said, “That’s all she roti.”

Women were seen prostituting themselves for anything with wheat in it. One hooker got creative and charged a pump per nickel for her services.

And finally, in Russia, bakers were making special commemorative crackers showing their president dancing: Putin on the Ritz.
