Good News, Everyone! Two thirds of the contestants were in the black this week. Investors in the general market saw a dichotomy: The Dow Industrial Average reported a week of significant gains, but bad quarterly results in many tech sector giants held back both the S&P and NASDAQ composites, e.g. a drop of half a percent of the NASDAQ for the last week. The biotech indices, on the other hand, were in the black: the NASDAQ biotech composite up +1.8%.

Last week’s number one stock, INZY (+77%), repeated their performance this week (+87%), apparently by announcing that next week they will host a conference call to provide “an overview of the Company’s global development strategy” for a product, bringing the total YTD return to +570%. This week’s second place CRVS (+35% for the week and +220% YTD, reclaiming the 2nd place spot from JSPR) had no news Yahoo thought worth reporting. Losses were comparatively less than the previous three weeks, although the two worst for this week, BCDA (-17%) and TGTX (-12%) added to a significant slide in the previous week (-22% and -24%).

It was a positive week for the contestant portfolios generally, up and average of +$2.3k for the week, a significant improvement to the YTD average (+$5.5 k), though the median (8th place) portfolio is still under water YTD (-$2.7k).

ERIKOTTO, with a 5% position in INZY, took the number one spot for the week (+$7.2k), DEW DILIGENCE was in second place for the week (+$5.6k), in part from holding PMGM. And in third place we had ALONER (+$5.3k), which allowed him widen his first place lead in the YTD rankings (+$55k) over BLADERUNNER by about a thousand dollars to $8.1k. The YTD rankings were unchanged for the top six places. TOMATO jumped ahead two spots to land in seventh place, their weekly return (+$4k) was almost enough to lift their YTD (-$940) back into the black.

As a side note, for a number of weeks BLCM had been dropped from their NASDAQ listing, joining PTE/PTEIQ on the pink sheets. I did not notice the event (as remarked the company strangely does not mark the occasion with a press release), because they retained their ticker symbol with the delisting. Next week, we might all learn a little more about how SPACs work, as PMGM takes the privately held AEON Biopharma Inc. public. SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Corporations) are what all the cool kids have been using instead of boring old IPOs.
