So far, so good on the NPB7. I haven't had any issues with it in the 10 days or so it's been running (knock wood). It's considerably quicker than the 4th gen NUC (i5-4250U 1GHz, 16GB) I just retired. There was some speculation in the Discord that the stock 120W power supply might be contributing to the reports of overheating, so I got a 180W just in case, but I now doubt that was necessary. That 96GB user is still on the stock PS.

I leave it running 24/7 -- as I did the 4th gen -- mostly so my thinkorswim charts stay current. The most recent BIOS (that was already on mine when it was delivered) appears to have solved the overheating issues. I even have a 2TB SSHD hybrid spinner in mine, so I'm asking it to deal with that extra heat too, but I've never seen temperatures even close to where I'd be concerned. I've never even noticed the fan yet, something the 4th gen couldn't say even on relatively light loading.

Memory prices have come down quite a bit of late. DDR5 still commands a premium over DDR4, but the actual dollar amounts are much less painful than it would have been a few months ago (same for the NVMe drives). The 64GB DDR5 kit I got was in the $150-160 range, half what it was when I began scouting upgrade costs awhile back.
