dave--

my thought had been IBM. IBM has a pretty good presence in india now, that would be bolstered by a JTS acquisition (it would give the combined entity greater leverage with the government).

in addition, IBMs work in GMR R/W heads for HDDs is set to go to market, and i tihnk they would benefit greatly from the acquistion since it is cheaper to acquire in the this market than to build out new facilities. i am also working on the basis of rumors to the effect that IBM wants to be dominate in HDDs.

packard bell/nec would be a very interesting deal, as would the HWP buyout. i think i could see the HWP deal as a greater possibilty though. to be honest, i had not thought about those two at all.

good luck to all,
trey
