POCI was included in our best percentage performer(s) for 1997. That chart can be viewed at: mcrr.com Although the latest qtrly release from the company reflected continuing losses there were some bright spots in the report. They have devoted enormous corporate resources in R&D over the past two years. The R&D activities meant less resources were devoted to sales during this time period but the company is positioning itself in technologies, products and applications that could lead to substantial returns down the road. The WDM filter(s) is a prime example of developing a technically advanced product for a potentially lucrative market. Other thin film applications are also intended for markets with considerable revenue potential. The company has a much wider following now as opposed to the time our profile came out...about 13 months ago. Our profile price was 1.31/1.37 and the subsequent high of 4.87 was reached last October. The stock edged below 3.00 this month....last time for that level was last August. POCI's R&D efforts are just beginning to mature but it will take more time to see how they are going to influence the top and bottom line. Definitely a company to keep on your 'watch' list for new developments. gary for the MCRR
