Brumar, it's really easy to say these days that slavery was bad bad bad. That's "woke" logic.

But back then, even during the founding of America, being an abolitionist was a very activist position to take.

Applying the standards of today to societies of two centuries ago is the favorite pastime of the "woke."

Never forget that even the Bible accepted slavery as the "way things were." It took a crisis of theology back during the 19th century to finally conclude that the Bible never condoned the practice, even though there was no verse that literally said so.
