If you looking for a person and you don't know what threads they post on, you can only find them via search if either they or someone else has used their name in a message. If you do know what threads they post on, you will have to do a manual search of those thread indexes.

Or else you can use Alta Vista: altavista.com. They include SI stuff in their index.
