They hype the stocks while selling calls and buying puts...and then after it made its nice run-up they downgrade it...and then sell the puts.

The worst of course is when they sell their stake and then the following day they downgrade the stock. Of course the classic, upgrade after it has already gone up 50% is a kicker as well.
