Dwight: I agree with you. That is the way I look at it. We could see a big jump in gold price soon or more likely some prolonged basing (due to major investors, banks and governments that are holding down the POG.... But they will have to abandon that move, IMO... and then gold could explode. When?... I have no clue... but my bet is sooner than later... It took over 6 months of Buffett's silver hoarding to get the price of silver burst to the upside. At this point the main engine for gold to go up is: IMHO, the hoarding of gold by individual investors, not only in Asia but also in Europe and the Americas... and I have serious doubts that it is NOT happening!... Just a matter of time. Regarding ALTA: last report about ALTA by Gold Stock Analyst (February 1998) still lists ALTA as one of their top 10 best pick... To be on that list, Gold Stock Analyst's criteria is that the equity in question would probably double from this point, over 6-18 months.. and without POG going up. IMHO: be patient and get in ALTA at some comfortable level. Very little donwside risk, IMO. POG exceeded $400 16 years out of 19 years... and went on a good leg up in 1982 and 1985 when it dipped below $300.... and at $300 it is trading below its annual peak for the last 19 years... Just a matter of time, folks... Asia will remember and buy tons more gold when they recover... Buffett's move on silver is etched in many's brain... Good luck all Gaston
