Humbly report, Joe, I agree with your concerns.

Regarding my opinion on picture quality comparison between Fuji and Kodak, I must say this is definitely a matter of individual taste, perception, and requirements of the shooting situation.

I am not qualified to comment on the huge amateur market. The pros (a much smaller market) that I am in contact with give me a variety of reasons for their choices, but most of them prefer Fuji color film and Kodak b&w, and so do I.

According to the latest figures on silver usage in photography (up 6% or so last year), use of silver in color films is growing, in b&w it is shrinking, and I belive that we can therefore assume the color film market as a whole is growing, while the b&w is shrinking.
