270 is far underrated as accuracy is concerned. As is the 25/06. Same case just need to tinker with powder and bullet length. I have had 2 25/06 shoot .5 moa but it took eons to find the right load. 700 yards used to be unheard of but today with likely better metals, tolerances, optics etc. I'm finding as long as you can stay supersonic you have fine probabilities of being on target. My 25/06 is supersonic out to 1200 yards and although never tried the shot I would expect good results.

I don't ever want to be in front of a 30 win mag.

Hard times are here and getting harder. A fun retirement for me would be a zombie apocalypse....as long as they are slow moving. I've got enough ammo to clear out most small cities so I'm not moving either.

Ran into lhba.com a few years ago and I'm putting up a near bullet proof log home in the sticks. If you can get good trees on your WV purchase take a peek at this method. If you can do Lincoln logs, you can build a home.

Get an American canner and a gross of jars. This can keep you alive for a very long time since you won't have eat rotted venison. Also found that an old iron chimenea can work like a rocket stove and cook stuff very fast with very little fuel.

Jimmie Carter blessed me with a 16% mortgage. I'll pass on any similar times.

I still remember that little red head and family dinner in NC years ago. One of the best weekends of my life.
