On bonds, I think you're right about the increased volatility...

Any time any market attracts more attention it also takes on more volatility...

It only makes sense when you think about it...

When more people are looking at one specific market, then there's more buying, more selling, more shorting, and so on...

All that added open interest brings with it more volatility...

Think of the opposite scenario... any market in which no one has any interest would have very little action and very little volatility...
