newbie, I guess I should tell the truth and say that there is a good reason why wall street thinks Xerox top brass sucks wind (there goes what little career I may have had). For example, they invested billions in some insurance & financial services companies 8-10 years ago and lost their butts on all of them. Those billions could have been ploughed into the core business instead, but noooooo, instead thousands of worker bees lost their jobs in the last few years while the top guys raked huge bonuses anyway. Any monkey can lay people off and short term it helps the stock. Now having said that, we have announced a stock buy back, and a stock split, (and possibly more layoffs according to prudential bache, Xerox never comments on layoff plans) all of which could be good for the stock, plus rumor has it that the top brass want to cash in options but can't do it unless the stock hits $160 which makes me think they'll scramble and sacrifice our long term future if necessary to get to the $160. But 60% of our revenues come from analog (ie. not digital) copier sales & supplies and that market segment is mature with little prospect. Digital product sales are growing well but they are not a big enough part of total sales. My group designs and manufactures the laser scanners which go into medium and high speed printing/document processing systems. We are entrepreneurial and are going after outside business and giving our VPs fits because they don't know what to do with entrepreneurs........
