Dave:

This is the game that I'm playing, but for 1/4s instead of 1/16s and for blocks of 1K or larger. I play momentum and news in biotech, and I have both the technical and trading backgrounds to get away with it. I therefore often set out after 1/4s, and end up with 1 1/2s.

I sit at my on-line account with one window open on the trade and a second open on real-time quotes, trying to "feel" the distribution of bids and asks. It works. I'm most frequently on the winning side of the 1/4s, and almost always on the winning side of larger moves. Volatility is the friend of those with a good technical background, and biotech is just a smidge volatile. In addition to news, I also watch Ray Cunningham's lists in "Charts for Quick Cash". He's been particularly hot of late.

However, I've often wondered about the "elaborate computer and software setup" for SOES. That is, I'm interested in gaining additional edge. What does the elaborate setup cost, and how does one get it?

Thanks, Rick
