Tenchu's Thoughts: Why Trump Can Say S#!t That Others Can't

First, take a look at this op-ed and consider its conclusion:

Something Is Terribly Wrong With Former President Trump - 19FortyFive
So, to all the observers sitting around waiting for the day that Donald Trump will say something that finally ruins his political viability, I would advise not to hold your breath.
Then consider that DeathSantis may be on the verge of a meltdown:

DeSantis campaign on brink of collapse after 'crushed' Florida Governor clip goes viral (msn.com)
One social media user wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "The chances of him having a career-ending public outburst are rising sharply."
That's the thing. Trump has said SO MANY THINGS that would have ended the career of ANY other politician out there.

Not only that, but Trump is under four indictments, three of which would have also resulted in the same demise for ANY other politician.

The Anti-Politician

So why is DeathSantis being judged by a different standard than Trump?

Is it because, if it weren't for double standards, Trump supporters would have none? Nah, that's too easy an explanation.

Nope. The real reason was mentioned in the first article that I linked to above.

Trump is the Anti-Politician.

And I've mentioned many times in the past how Trump fulfills the role of a postmodern "anti-hero":

Donald Trump Is The First President To Turn Postmodernism Against Itself (thefederalist.com)
Tony Soprano, Walter White, and Frank Underwood are just a few recent examples of the enormously popular characters who have, each in their own way, stood in for the role of the complicated bad guy who fascinates millions of Americans.
More recent examples would include Saul Goodman and Homelander.

That's the thing about anti-heroes. They will lie, cheat, steal, and even commit murder, and we will cheer them on because we are invested in their storylines, and we enjoy watching them take down despicable adversaries by turning their own evil back onto them.

That's why Trump can say s#!t that no one else would ever be allowed to. Not even DeathSantis.

Because DeathSantis is part of the so-called "establishment." He isn't the anti-hero, and waging an anti-woke crusade isn't going to help make up for that "shortcoming."

But Trump was, is, and always will be an outsider. A rabblerouser. The anti-establishment anti-hero.

The more Trump says s#!t, the more his supporters will love him, because that's EXACTLY what they want him to do.

And that's to all the malevolent means that the "woke" left uses to push their agenda, and turn it back around on them.

No one else in the GQP but Trump can fulfill that role.

P.S. - Even though we cheer on anti-heroes, we know deep down that these anti-heroes will eventually get their just desserts. Something to consider if you count yourself as a supporter of Trump. Or dArK bRaNdOn for that matter.
