Craig,

<< I think you are correct about the future of Fibre Channel, but don't expect the SCSI guys to give up without a fight. There is a HUGE installed base of SCSI out there, and there will be a tremendous effort to protect that investment for years to come. I still believe Fibre Channel will eventually win out because of several technical advantages. >>

I couldn't agree with you more, that's why I made my hodge podge comment. I just had a problem with the statement that said SCSI "will make it much more difficult for FC vendors to get into the mainstream..." I found that comment ludicrous, bc I believe the FC vendors will soon BE the mainstream companies (some who have been doing SCSI)...pure and simple. SCSI is going to be around a long time and for many years, of course, but it will get easier, not harder for Fibre Channel to get more popular.

Backward compatibility is essential of course, especially to E/FE/GE and to ATM/SONET and will be a must if Fibre Channel is going to take off. Perhaps we can get an update on the connectivity products at their conference call. I can't imagine any shareholders that are not interested in hearing about these important possible future products. I have been frustrated in getting a response from the company in the past about their progress and think we deserve to hear more.

One of the fellows that asked questions at the Gignet conference I went to specifically came out and asked about when a FC SAN will be able to connect out to ATM bc he needed that. I think I just heard a measly, "It will be able to" from someone and that was all.

Thanks for the Ethernet port stuff. It looks like it was a must for management. Very interesting. I'm glad you're here able to talk about Real Life networking solutions, bc I am just an isolated pigboy who is able to only draw incredibly bizarre abstract conclusions :-) about Real network situations. You are much appreciated.

all imho
