Duh!

That's correct. The earth was a very hot swamp. Gradually trees and plant life absorbed CO2 became peat slowly became covered with dust and became then coal. Ocean kelp forest and algae were converted to oil. A billion years of CO2 was buried cooling the planet.

Over 100 years we've dug it up and burned it. 8,000,000,000 humans, just like any other animals or plants can change the planet. Just a LOT more.
