Here's a selective list of the sites I use for Quotes, News and Research. Some have been recommended here, some I've used for a while. As I've mentioned here before, my current favorite right now is Yahoo:

quote.yahoo.com (reliable quotes, even buletin board stocks which I can't get on most other free sites; expanded financial/history data on each quote; timely and extensive news coverage with alerts)

stocksmart.com (quotes with newslinks/alerts. Good, but I like Yahoo better)

cnnfn.com (used to be much faster and reliable, has been getting better recently; no linked news alerts, but you can search through CNNfn's site)

irnet.com (this one is not as consistently reliable, but it is useful as a back up. Linked news is pretty poor. Its biggest advantage is that you can set up a portfolio and it will auto-refresh every 3 minutes, updating stock prices on the fly. This means you can leave your portfolio up on your computer unattended without having your service provider kick you off after 30 minutes of inactivity)

Of course, there are numerous other good financial sites, but the ones listed above are those that most closely meet the objective I stated when starting this thread, namely fast, reliable quotes with a reasonable amount of financial data and alerts/links to news events which might be affecting the stock.
