Yes, that is correct. I did not mean to imply that there are a lot of Logatto's on sale. The breed is fairly rare in north America. I meant that not getting a dog from Italy is not a big deal to me because I have plenty of other choices here.

I am settling down on a few dogs. My criteria is that

(1) It should be a breed that I matches me.
(2) It is a healthy dog (both specifically and the breed)
(3) It is challenging for the owner. I am not interested in encouraging puppy mills. I want to rescue a pup from a bad situation.

I've narrowed my choices down to a few:

#1 Is a Kelpie puppy. The owners are clearly out of their depths (as almost anyone in a city would be) and I don't think they realized what they were getting. Nor do I think they are experienced dog owners. Which makes it a double whammy for the pup. The challenge will be weaning the pup off bad habits and getting it enough exercise. Fortunately Kelpies are extremely smart and fast learners. And I have the space. It will still be challenging, but I'm in a better situation to help the dog than most others.

#2 Seems almost ideal for most people. It's a german shepherd cross (with a golden doodle). Seems to be well trained and well mannered. The owner is under stress and mentally can't handle the dog. She's eager to let it go.

#3 Would be ideal for me. It's a well trained and well loved Rottie. The owner clearly cares for the dog. But he has taken on a 2nd job and can't spend time with the dog.

I like the #3 best, but I think he will end up in a good place. So I will likely pick one of the first two.

Stay posted.
