It’s the other way around with us. My wife would endlessly collect rescue dogs if it wasn’t for me setting a limit of two. Mind you, it’s a somewhat flexible limit. A third Shepherd might be joining us shortly but purely on a foster basis. A two year old male with zero training which has essentially been deemed unadoptable. He was adopted out twice and returned both times. I am still a little leery as Jack has only been with us for a few months. He is still going through the “terrible 2’s” . He is 90% predictable by now. The next 5% are the hardest part. This leaves the unavoidable 5%. No dog will ever reach 100%.

We have successfully fostered in the past. It’s usually a six month process between training and finding the “perfect” home for them. Our home finding method is different from the norm. Instead of using the internet we post notices along our usual (woodsy) walking trails. It’s a much small audience but it targets the “right” people.

I look forward to hear which dog you end up with. It will undoubtedly be the right decision given the amount of thought you are putting into it.
