Putin sure does have a lot of poisonings, murder of various types and brutal suppression of any opposition it seems. When theatres full of people are taken hostage by brutal murderers, children are mass killed in Beslan, and doubtless many plan his own murder, I can understand that he takes a dim view of it all. In a dog eat dog and human eat dog world, with the Devil take the hindmost, I can see how a harsh approach is more successful.
Being Mr Nice Guy did not work for Gorby, USSR, and Russia. Putin has said "nyet".
Now half a million are dead. But still the Yanks, Pommy Bastards, horrible harridan harpies and Barbarossa II are gearing up for Armageddon. Herr Gruppenfuhrer Stoltenberg is goose-stepping into position. Russians have seen it all before = 1812 Overture, Charge of the Light Brigade, WWI and Barbarossa I.
The onslaught started with Nobel Peace Prize Obama setting JoeBigGuy10% and Victoria Nuland [with no VVVs] along with Congressional criminals Graham, McCain and kickback cronies paying the Ukes to start murdering and conducting the coup in Kiev, with the immediate plan to berth NATO ships in Sevastopol and take over Crimea along with the rest of Donetsk, Luhansk etc to array missiles, tanks and all sorts just south of Moscow.
It's perfectly and easily understandable that Crimea was annexed and the Russians in the east of Ukraine got help from Russian soldiers - called contractors just as USA has "contractors" doing military action all over the place such as Iraq.
As I've written from the beginning, the NATO onslaught is a crazy strategy because it means Russia has been forced into subordination to China which now has their effective western border all the way over by Hungary. Russian resources are flowing east instead of west. Germans have to find some other source of energy instead of the Nordstream pipelines that were bombed by the crazed Yanks [including stupid Donald Trump]. Vivek I am happy to observe, fully agrees with me [from what I've heard from him so far].
Except that I am happy to make an argument that it's worth helping Taiwan in self-defence and independence if they mostly want that. I don't see any reason that China's current bosses should get to take over those people and their property. Nor do I see any reason that China should take over the umpty million of Hong Kong. The lease long ago was from people who were in charge by questionable reason, over very few thousand at the time in Hong Kong. All the value and people were created subsequently. Those who later took over China by brutal murder don't have a VVV basis for leveraging their murderous conquest to include the pleasant people on Hong Kong and their property.
An attack on Taiwan should mean a blockade of China. No more Saudi oil. No more Russian gas. Belt and road blocked at the pass. Japan owned Taiwan in the 19th century. Japan continued to expand and not in a nice way. In a hideously brutal way. Yes, yes, rare earth this, and Made in China that. It wouldn't be good at all for buyers or sellers. But conquest of independent-minded countries such as Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea, Scotland, Ireland, Brexit, Quebec, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia etc is not the way to do things in the 21st century. If they were getting away with the Crown Jewels, big oil fields or something it might need some discussion. Brexiteers chose to leave Eurostan and the Fourth Reich. The Euroserfs didn't attack them. If Scotland chose independence, the English might well agree. The Scots might find the English vote for independence from Scotland, and Ireland = that would be funny. Stop the Irish and Scots visiting England! Or make them pay a tourist visa fee.
