Uncle Si's heritage was Polish and he published a two book autobiography, there is lots written leading up to the war though surprisingly little about the war and continues on to upgrading his education. Dad made a trip to China, to Mongolia, and across Russia to Finland. He told me Russia looks just like Alberta.

He did mention that while on the train travelling across Russia there was a moment when the trees opened to a field full of tanks.
