I just watched both seasons of the Britsh remake of Professor I have not watched the Belgian original or German remake so cannot make those comparisons, but on its own I would evaluate it as 'okay'. The setting at Cambridge is unique, and the direction is often stylish, but the parts somehow don't add up to much, particularly in the second season as they start concentrating more on the personal story of the Professor and his neuroses.

I also finally got around to watching the German movie Measuring the World, which follows the stories of the two 19th C geniuses Alexander von Humboldt and Carl Friedrich Gaus, organized around the two times they met, early in the lives and near the end. Again, it was disappointing, the stylish filmaking and interesting script somehow not quite coalescing. Humboldt and Gauss are such fascinating characters with great stories that deserve better.
